President Bola Tinubu has authorized the immediate suspension of Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, the Managing Director/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), along with three Executive Directors. This action comes amid suspicions of fraudulent spending exceeding N1.2 billion over the past two years.
President Tinubu has instructed a comprehensive investigation into the conduct of these officials, with some misappropriated funds already recovered by anti-corruption agencies.
The suspended Executive Directors are:
1. Olaniyi Alaba Netufo — Executive Director, Corporate Services
2. Barka Sajou — Executive Director, Technical Services
3. Sa'adatu Balgore — Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund (REF)
