Arise Television has come under fire from the Federal Government through the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), as they issued a stern warning regarding the use of derogatory and incendiary remarks on their station.
The warning, dated October 6, 2023, was conveyed in a letter from NBC's Director General, Dr. Balarabe Shehu Ilelah. In the letter, Arise TV was urged to implement a delay mechanism to prevent undesirable content and reminded of their responsibility to monitor their guests' conduct.
The letter, titled "Preponderance of derogatory and incendiary remarks: final warning," pointed out specific instances of incendiary remarks made on the station and referred to relevant broadcast rules and codes.
Arise TV was specifically advised to adhere to section 5.5.6 of the broadcasting code by installing a delay mechanism to prevent undesirable content.
