The Senate declined Tinubu's request to deploy troops to Niger and instead urged ECOWAS to pursue political and diplomatic solutions to the political situation in Niger Republic.
The Senate praised Tinubu and other ECOWAS leaders for their swift response to the coup and recognized that Tinubu sought the National Assembly's support for implementing ECOWAS resolutions. The Senate also tasked the leadership to engage with the president and explore ways to resolve the issue given the historical friendly relations between Nigerians and Nigeriens.
Additionally, the Senate called on the ECOWAS parliament to condemn the coup and work towards resolving the situation promptly.
