DSS WARNS AGAINST PROPAGANDA

Statement by the Department of State Services (DSS):

The Department of State Services (DSS) has been informed that certain groups plan to assemble in various locations in Abuja and Lagos next week, carrying placards that tarnish the image of the Service and the Government, while demanding the immediate release of Emefiele.

We are aware that this is a cheap propaganda tactic aimed at demoralizing and diverting our attention from the diligent execution of our crucial responsibilities. We have also observed misleading comments, speculative narratives, storylines, and videos circulating on social media by uninformed individuals, critics, and desperate parties.

We are mindful of attempts to infiltrate our ranks with disloyal staff who may be used for subversive purposes against our leadership. While we consider these efforts as deliberate attempts to distract us, we warn the instigators to cease their plans immediately. It should be noted that the individuals behind these actions are already under surveillance and will be apprehended if deemed necessary.

It is important to clarify that we have allowed Emefiele's family, medical professionals, and relevant individuals access to him since the day he was taken into custody, even before the court order requested it.

The DSS strictly adheres to Standard Operating Procedures on Suspect Handling and Investigation. We conduct our affairs transparently, professionally, and in accordance with the rule of law, upholding democratic governance.

To remove any doubts, we assure the public of our professionalism in the current matters under our jurisdiction. However, we will not be swayed or intimidated.
