SE LEADERS PUSH FOR SENATE LEADER

Leaders and stakeholders from the Southeast region are advocating for the consideration of Orji Kalu, David Umahi, and Chief Osita Izunaso for the position of Senate Leader. They face competition from Mohammed Ali Ndume and Opeyemi Bamidele in the battle for the Senate Leader role.

"Currently, our caucus (South East) has made a collective decision to move past the contest for the Senate presidency and focus on what we can attain. We have initiated discussions with party leaders and other relevant stakeholders. Additionally, we have reached out to the Senate leadership. We are united as a group and firmly request that the position of Senate Leader be exclusively allocated to the Southeast. This will provide a sense of belonging to APC members and leaders in our region, which we have long sought," a source revealed.

Furthermore, Yari is also vying for the position of Senate Leader. His supporters believe that if Yari is appointed, it would help mend the wounds suffered by him and his followers. Ndume aims to reclaim the position of Senate Leader, which he previously held from 2016 until January 10, 2017 when he was impeached by his fellow APC colleagues.

Bamidele also aspires to become Senate Leader, citing the tradition that the Senate Leader often comes from the President's zone.
