The NAACP has recently issued a travel advisory for Florida, citing concerns over Governor Ron DeSantis' alleged actions to erase Black history and limit diversity programs in schools.
According to the advisory, the NAACP claims that Florida exhibits open hostility towards African Americans, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals.
Travelers are urged to be aware of the state's perceived devaluation and marginalization of these communities.
However, some argue that this advisory is purely political, asserting that the only Black history being contested is the 1619 Project.
They point out that Florida has a significant Black population of 17% and a non-Hispanic Caucasian population of only 50%. Some skeptics even question whether anyone from the NAACP has personally visited Florida to understand the situation.
