Abacha's former chief of staff, Oladipo Diya, has passed away.
General Oladipo Diya, who had retired, passed away at the age of 78, according to his family.
The family's representative, Oyesinmilola Diya, stated in a statement that the late general passed away early hours on Sunday.
Between 1994 and 1997, Diya led the general staff of the former president Sani Abacha.
In 1997, he was detained and given a death sentence for alleged treason; however, after Abacha's passing in 1998, he was released.
