President Joseph Biden issued a warning to Iran on Friday after the U.S. military launched airstrikes on troops backed by Iran in retaliation for an incident in Syria, saying that the US will "act decisively" to defend Americans.
Subsequently, officials reported that a second American service member had been hurt on Friday in the most recent act-for-act conflict in Syria involving American and forces backed by Iran.
This comes on top of the seven deaths on Thursday, which Washington attributed to an Iranian-made drone and involved the killing of an American contractor, as well as the injuries of five US soldiers and a different contractor.
