Vice President Kahsim Shettima announced that President Bola Tinubu has given approval to the "Pulaaku Initiative," a non-kinetic approach to combat insurgency and banditry in the North.

The initiative is set to begin in seven states, including Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Benue, Zamfara, Niger, and Kaduna, with an initial allocation of ₦50bn.

Shettima emphasized the government's commitment to addressing insecurity by allocating a significant portion of the 2024 budget to the cause, urging Nigerians to focus on building stronger systems and fostering unity.
