FCT MINISTER'S PROCUREMENT INQUIRY

Honorable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Honorable Wike has formally written to both the EFCC and ICPC, requesting their invitation of former Minister of the FCT, Mallam Muhammed M. Bello. The purpose is to seek clarification regarding several concerning matters:

1. The award of a 1-kilometer road contract from Gaduwa Estate junction to the NCDC Office, initially priced at 4 billion Naira, which was fully paid.

2. The contract initially valued at 10 billion Naira, later escalated to 119 billion Naira.

3. Another contract initially priced at 50 billion Naira, which subsequently increased to 200 billion Naira.

4. A contract initially worth 6 billion Naira, which was later revised to 70 billion Naira.

5. An emergency maintenance project for Usman Dam, costing 9 billion Naira, paid in full without proper Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and various procurement irregularities.

Furthermore, concerns have been raised about the significant debt burden of over 1.2 trillion Naira left behind in the FCT administration without tangible results.

Additionally, there is suspicion surrounding the approval of green areas for residential properties and the conversion of residential houses on Gana Street in Wuse 2, Maitama, into commercial properties, which appears to be contrary to the Abuja master plan.
