Deputy CBN Governor, Aisha Ahmad, was arrested by the DSS on suspicion of fraudulent share acquisition in Polaris Bank and Titan Bank (Union Bank). Additionally, she is being questioned about Titan Bank's $300 million raised for Union Bank acquisition in 2022.
She was responsible for financial system stability, was interviewed by a special investigator appointed by President Bola Tinubu. She was subsequently released after providing answers to the investigator's questions.
Jim Osayande Obazee, former CEO of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN), was appointed as the special investigator in July.
All CBN deputy governors are undergoing interviews as part of the investigation into the bank's activities during Godwin Emefiele's suspension. The investigation is being conducted at the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja, where the deputy governors appear as required.
