CASH FOUND AT OUSTED GABONESE PRESIDENT'S SON'S AIDE (VIDEO)

During the aftermath of the Gabon coup, revolutionaries discovered a stash of cash in the home of the Chief of Staff to Nourredine Bongo, the son of deposed President Ali Bongo. The cache contained a mix of CFA francs, dollars, and Euros, as shown in a widely circulated video on X app (formerly Twitter).

A group of senior Gabonese military officials subsequently announced their takeover of the country's government on television, ending President Ali Bongo's 14-year rule. This coup came after the Bongo family's 56-year reign in power, with President Omar Bongo leading for 42 years.

In connection with these events, Nourredine, who held a key role overseeing presidential affairs, was arrested on charges of corruption, embezzlement, and treason on the same Wednesday.
