BREAK PLATEAU KILLINGS CYCLE — PRESIDENT TINUBU

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow and anguish in response to the recent wave of violence and killings in Plateau State.

The President strongly condemned the recent inter-communal killings in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State and parts of Benue State.

President Tinubu was deeply disturbed by the ongoing cycle of reprisal attacks and the senseless loss of lives within these communities.

"It is truly disheartening that amidst this violence, an innocent eight-month-old baby in Farin Lamba community of Vwang District, Jos South Local Government, lost her life in a conflict she had no part in."

The tragic consequence of enduring conflicts always involves the unnecessary loss of innocent lives.

"To establish strong, peaceful, and prosperous communities, we must embrace tolerance and forgiveness, even in the face of perceived wrongs," stated the President.

To rebuild trust and restore harmony in these conflict-ridden areas, President Tinubu called upon community leaders, religious figures, traditional rulers, socio-cultural organizations, as well as the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Jama'atu Nasril Islam, and the Christian Association of Nigeria to join forces in fostering genuine and enduring peace.

While reiterating the government's unwavering determination to eradicate violent crimes and all forms of criminality throughout Nigeria, the President has instructed security agencies to apprehend the masterminds behind these heinous acts and ensure they face the full force of the law.

Furthermore, he urged the governments of Plateau and Benue States, along with emergency response agencies, to provide immediate support and relief to the victims who have been displaced as a result of these conflicts.
