INEC misled the court by stating that they required authorization to reconfigure the BVAS machine for the governorship election. Once granted permission by the court, they proceeded to erase all the recorded polling unit results for the presidential election captured by the BVAS, seemingly in an attempt to conceal their wrongdoing.
What's more astonishing is that they even erased the entire presidential results from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), despite the absence of a gubernatorial election in that region. This turn of events is truly unbelievable.
During the tribunal, INEC's legal representatives, headed by Abubakar Mahmoud, acknowledged that the commission was at fault for deleting the results. However, they argued that this act of tampering occurred in only 3% of the total BVAS devices used for the 2023 elections.
