Reno Omokri has made a heartfelt appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to use his private audience with King Charles III to request a royal prerogative of mercy for Senator Ike Ekweremadu, as a parting gift to Nigeria.
This request is within the power of the British monarch and will be a gesture of appreciation to a man who has served Nigeria loyally and dedicatedly. Senator Ekweremadu was convicted of a crime he committed out of desperation, as a loving father of a child in dire need of a kidney transplant.
This act of mercy will forever be remembered and appreciated by Nigerians. Lawyer Kayode Ajulo has also written to King Charles III, pleading for a prerogative of mercy for Ike Ekweremadu.
It remains to be seen if President Buhari will accede to this humble request, but we pray that he does and may God bless him.
