NIGERIAN SOLDIERS ABUSE CIVILIANS (VIDEO)

Soldiers in Nigeria were caught in a viral video assaulting and humiliating civilians at a Kaduna hotel. The civilians, who were staff members of the hotel, demanded their salary after cleaning the hotel, but the hotel manager called the soldiers to beat them up. The soldiers forced the workers into a gutter, seized their phones, and threatened them with harm.

In response, the Nigerian Army condemned the soldiers' actions and vowed to punish those responsible. The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, stated that the incident goes against the values and ethics of professionalism, courage, selflessness, and service to humanity that the Nigerian Army represents. The authorities of the Nigerian Army have launched an immediate investigation into the footage to identify the culprits.

The Nigerian Army is a disciplined and regimented force committed to upholding the constitution and defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation, as well as aiding civil authorities. As such, they have zero tolerance for any act that goes against the rights and wellbeing of the citizenry. The outcome of the investigation and any sanctions against those responsible will be in accordance with the Armed Forces Acts.

The Nigerian Army urges all law-abiding citizens to carry on with their legitimate businesses without fear of molestation or intimidation and to report any untoward conduct by troops to the Nigerian Army Human Rights Desks at the Headquarters Nigerian Army or at the Divisions Headquarters.
