Businessman Cletus Ibeto faces an arrest warrant issued by the Lagos State High Court due to his failure to appear in court for an alleged N4.8bn fraud case.
The court, on November 3, 2023, set this warrant following Ibeto's repeated absence for arraignment related to charges such as obtaining property by false pretenses, fraudulent conversion, breach of trust, forgery, and deception.
Despite various attempts by the defense to delay the proceedings, the judge ruled that Ibeto must be present for arraignment before any objections or applications can be considered. The court granted an application for a bench warrant against Ibeto, dismissing objections based on his health condition and age, scheduling the next hearing for November 15, 2023.
