Kano State, with the support of the state government, organized a mass wedding ceremony for 1,800 couples, predominantly consisting of widows and divorcees.
In an act of goodwill, the state government covered nearly ₦50,000 as dowry on behalf of each groom for their brides.
As part of the mass wedding initiative, the newlyweds received a thoughtful package that included a bed, bedding, food, and clothing. It's noteworthy that the couples are obligated to reimburse these gifts to the state government in the event of a divorce.
