On Wednesday, September 13, the Federal government made the significant move of transferring the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to the Ministry of Interior.
This decision aims to tackle the persistent challenges associated with National Identity Numbers (NIN), which are a crucial requirement for the smooth application and issuance of International Passports and other travel documents.
NIMC was previously under the supervision of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.
This transition of NIMC to the Ministry of Interior is being expedited in accordance with President Bola Tinubu's administration's directive to eliminate all obstacles and delays in obtaining NIN and Passports.
