A baby from India was born with 26 fingers and toes.
A newborn with 14 fingers and 12 toes was delivered in a hospital in Rajasthan, Northwestern India.
The infant girl has six toes on each foot and seven fingers on each hand.
Her family is apparently thrilled and has publicly referred to her as the reincarnated form of Dholagarh Devi, a well-known local deity whose temple is close to where the girl was born, even though physicians have labeled her condition as a genetic oddity.
Dr. BS Soni, a doctor at the hospital where the baby was delivered, said, "Having 26 fingers is not harmful in any way, but it is a genetic abnormality. Other than that, the girl is perfect health.
At this time, it is unknown if the family are planning to have their newborn girl undergo surgery to reduce the number of digits on each limb.
