Unlawful extraction of gold in Northern Nigeria's Zamfara State, specifically in Anka Local Government, involves sites controlled by a former governor, a retired general, and a serving senator. 

While numerous local governments in Zamfara State face threats from Boko Haram terrorists, kidnapping isn't prevalent at the mining locations due to the known sponsors of the terrorists. 

It's no surprise that the Zamfara state governor mentioned a value of ₦9 trillion. Laborers are paid ₦1000 daily, raising questions about potential militia involvement.
