The Abia State Governor, Alex C Otti expressed his sympathy over the sudden fire outbreak at Powerline Ariaria International market Aba.
He said: "Yesterday, I received the sad news of the fire incident that happened in some sections of the popular Ariaria International Market, Aba (Power Line Shoe Maker Zone).
I sincerely sympathise with the traders who lost goods worth hundreds of millions of Naira, and the attendant setback this might have caused their businesses.
To this end, I have directed the Commisioner for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu and the Senior Special Assistant on Aba Rejuvenation, Mr. Uche Ukeje for an on-the-spot assessment. This would enable us to take informed actions on forestalling a reoccurrence of the tragic incident and assist the traders to mitigate their loss.
As part of our core mandate, we will continue to deploy the best solutions and resources to secure the lives and property of our people".
