Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the former Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, along with his wife Mrs Beatrice Ekweremadu and medical doctor Dr Obinna Obeta, have been convicted for their involvement in an organ trafficking scheme.
The UK court handed down a sentence of nine years and eight months for Senator Ekweremadu, while Mrs Beatrice Ekweremadu received a four-year and six-month sentence. Dr Obinna Obeta, who acted as a "middleman" in the scheme, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and had his medical license suspended.
