POLICE NEUTRALIZE ALLEGED IPOB/ESN FIGHTERS


During a press conference on Wednesday, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, confirmed that five alleged members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) were killed by the police. 


The suspects were reportedly on their way to carry out an attack in Anambra State when they were intercepted by joint security forces in Akwaihedi, Nnewi South, a border town between Imo and Anambra States. 


The police recovered two rocket launchers, four AK47 rifles, one automatic pump action, four magazines, eight live ammunition, police berets, charms, and other incriminating items from the scene. 


Additionally, the Anambra State Police Command operatives, in an attempt to rescue two kidnapped victims, stormed a camp at Ifite, Ogbunike, Oyi LGA and neutralized two armed men, recovering a black Lexus SUV with a lot of security uniforms that comprised of police and military. 


The Commissioner of Police stated that the battle against criminals in Anambra State would remain sustained until stability is restored in the state. 


He commended the efforts of the joint security forces, including the police, military, other security agencies, and vigilantes, in the fight against the insurgents in the state. 


He urged everyone to support the security agencies and the state government in their efforts to bring security stability to the state.
