EBONYI STATE PDP CHAIRMAN DIED AFTER BEATEN TO COMA

Peter Nweke, the PDP leader, was assaulted in Ebonyi and was beaten into a coma before passing away.

In Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Peter Nweke, the PDP chairman, has passed away.

Nweke was killed after being attacked by thugs who were allegedly political thugs on Saturday during the gubernatorial and assembly elections.

The death of Nweke was confirmed on Sunday by the police spokesperson in Ebonyi, Onome Onovwakpoyeya.

Nweke was assaulted, taken to the hospital in a state of unconsciousness, and later given the medical prognosis of death, claims Onovwakpoyeya.

She also revealed that a police investigation into the events preceding the death of the party chieftain had been launched with the goal of apprehending and prosecuting those responsible.

Samson Nweke, a human rights advocate and Peter's younger brother, confirmed the death and claimed that thugs beat him into a coma.

He claimed that thugs armed with AK-47s broke into booth 10 of his voting location in the Ogboji ward of the Ezza North LGA of Ebonyi State and surrounded his brother.

He claimed he had an intelligence report prior to the incident that caused his brother's death and claimed an unnamed political party in the state was accountable for his late brother's death.
