NDLEA ARRESTS BILLIONAIRE DRUG LORD AT VGC LAGOS



NDLEA has recover N8.8 billion worth of tramadol from a building in a residential area


Not more than thirteen million, four hundred and fifty-one thousand four hundred and sixty-six (13,451,466) pills of Tramadol 225 mg worth eight billion eight hundred and sixty million Naira (N8,860,000,000) of civic value were recovered by agents of the National Drug Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, from one of the mansions of a billionaire drug lord, Ugochukwu Nsofor Chukwukadibia, in the luxury residential area of ​​Victoria Garden City, Lekki area of ​​Lagos.




The arrest of Autonation Motors Ltd chairman Ugochukwu comes just two months after NDLEA discovered a clandestine methamphetamine lab at the residence of another drug lord on the estate, Chris Emeka Nzewi, who was arrested on Saturday 30 July, along with a chemist, who cooked him the illegal drug. At least 258.74 kilograms of crystalline methamphetamine and various chemical precursors used to produce the toxic drug were recovered from Nzewis' home during his arrest.


After credible information, NDLEA agents stormed the home of the 52-year-old billionaire drug lord at Plot A45 Road 2 on Friday, September 30. A search of the sprawling mansion led to the discovery of 443 boxes of Tramadol hydrochloride 225 mg, containing 13,451,466 pills of the drug, while some boxes had been burned in a house fire on the same day. 




Prior to his arrest, Ugochukwu, who hails from Ihiala Regency, Anambra State, was on the agency's watch list as one of the backers of the Nigerian tramadol cartel. Preliminary investigations show that he owns around six villas within the VGC, including one where he stores tramadol cargo while living at 67 Plot Z-130 Road and another as an office. Five exotic vehicles were also located in two of his mansions, from which two SUVs, including a spherical jeep, were successfully introduced into the agency's premises.
