A 26 year-old American based Nigerian, millionaire Charles Chukwuma Onwuoemelie was arrested on last week Wednesday by Los Angeles Police over 68 Armed robberies in the US five months after his high profile wedding.
Mr Charles who is popularly known as the "Blue Cloth Bandit" for his alleged habit of using a cloth to cover a handgun during a string of more than five dozen robberies after a span of nearly two years was arrested in Los Angeles, US.
A 29-year-old Quartz Hill resident, was arrested on September 23 for allegedly committing 68 robberies just 5 months after planning a very extravagant wedding in the United States.
According to research, a total of 68 business robberies have been linked to the same suspect since October 2021. The raids are reported to have taken place throughout Los Angeles County and the City of Los Angeles.
During their investigation, detectives discovered that the suspect frequently covered the gun used in robberies at gas stations, 7-11s and Walmarts with a blue cloth. The suspect was disguised by wearing different hats, a face mask and rubber gloves. The same vehicle was used in numerous robberies and several factors led to the identification of the same suspect.
Charles Chukwuma Onwuemelie was arrested at his home. Evidence was also found at the scene that further linked him to the robberies, including a gun.
