BUHARI DECLARES ADVERT ON FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, WHATSAPP, AND MESSENGER ILLEGAL



Small business in Nigeria in serious trouble when the President Buhari government outlaws advertising on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, sues Meta for ₦ 30 billion


The Nigerian government wants to regulate advertising on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and, by extension, on social media.


Ads are mainly made up of small businesses seeking visibility through social media; if permitted, they should be checked by a federal agency prior to approval.


The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has said that any social media advertising without its consent is illegal.
