NNAMDI KANU MUST APPEAR IN COURT — IGBO LAWYERS

The Igbo lawyers have mandated the Federal Government to ensure that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is brought to court on Thursday being the 29th day of October 2021. This statement was jointly signed by ILA Coordinator V C Onweremadu and Secretary Felix Jonathan.

"We advise security agents to respect our people's wishes to stay at home on that day, and no one should be harmed, arrested, or harassed."

"We emphasize that the group is seeking justice and a fair hearing for Nnamdi Kanu, as well as his immediate release from detention. Nnamdi Kanu has not committed any legal offenses as a result of his nonviolent protest, despite the Federal Government's lamentable failure to engage them."

"Northern elders have retained substantial influence and secret bargaining with the FG to look into the demands of bandits, BokoHaram, and monstrous Fulani Herdsmen, and attention is being given to their requests secretly, but IPOB does not merit the mercy and attention of the government."

"Those who are effectively agitating/exercising their constitutional guarantee rights to self-determination are being slaughtered like flies by Nigeria Security Agents, thanks to the government's care and concern. We informed the government that on that day, Igbo lawyers as a collective will send a delegation of prominent lawyers in solidarity."

"Our people want to see Mazi Nnamdi Kanu alive and well on that day so that he can reclaim his freedom, which would significantly reduce the mounting tensions in the south east."
