Senator Orji Uzor Kalu was on Monday, July 27, 2020 received triumphant welcome in Abia State after he was released from prison.
We recall that he was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment in December 2019 after he was convicted for ₦7.1b fraud alongside with his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited and Ugo Udeogu a former director of finance during his tenure.
The judgment was nullified by the Supreme Court on May 8, 2020 on ground that the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Idris lacked the jurisdiction over the case.
He was released from Kuje prison on June 3, 2020 and returned to his State on Monday.
