A POPULAR NIGERIAN MUSICIAN, MAJEK FASHEK IS DEAD



Born Majekodunmi Fashek was a celebrated singer-songwriter who had his heyday in the 1980s and 1990s, when he became an internationally recognized star.

Fashek was said to have a deteriorating health issue that led to comatose state at a London hospital by his manager last week. His manager had earlier requested Nigerians to come urgently to their aid, to enable them handle medical and other expenses.


Majek is best known for his 1988 album "Prisoner of Conscience", which included the multiple award-winning single “Send Down the Rain”.

Also known as "The Rainmaker," Majek had worked with various artists across the globe, they include Tracy Chapman, Jimmy Cliff, Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, and Beyoncé.


He died at the age of 57 years in a London hospital
