MANY FEARED DEAD AS SHIITES AND POLICE CLASH IN ABUJA



the Islamic Movement of Nigeria Shi'ites and police clashed yesterday in Abuja over the detention of their leader Ibrahim El-Zakzaky. 



They demanded for the release of their leader and took their protest to the Central Business District. 



The process of police to prevent them from staging the protest turned into blood shedding as gun shots were fired by police officers and the Shiites. 



The Deputy Commissioner of police in charge of Operations at the Federal Capital police command DCP Umar was shot and died on the way to hospital. 

Channel Television bus was set ablaze while bullet hit a reporter in his stomach but he is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
