Premier League champions Manchester City are stepping up their interest in Liverpool target and Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, amid talk of a €60 million bid. Chelsea, Liverpool and City have all been heavily linked with the player, but it is Pep Guardiola’s men who look ready to make an opening offer, according to reports in Italy.
Guardiola is a known admirer of the player and is keen to bring him to Manchester in the near future. City have been heavily linked with a move for the player as a potential long-term replacement for Fernandinho who is a doubt for City’s trip to face Southampton this weekend having missed the last two league games which coincidentally ended in defeat for City.
Meanwhile, Aouar starred in Lyon’s games against City in the Champions League this season and has clearly done enough to convince them. Liverpool themselves have been long-term admirers of the player himself and have previously made contact with the French side to discuss his availability, according to reports.
