KANO DECLARES PUBLIC HOLIDAY



The Kano State Government has declared Monday a public holiday to mark the beginning of the new Islamic calendar year 1446 AH.


This announcement was made in a statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Baba Dantiye, on Friday.


Governor Yusuf Abba urged citizens to use the holiday to reflect on the past year and engage in activities that are beneficial. He encouraged the people of the state to reflect on the previous year and commit to activities that will provide relief in these challenging times.


"The state government will continue to implement and initiate policies and programs that empower citizens to be self-reliant," the statement said.


Governor Abba also called on the Muslim community to intensify prayers for continuous peace and progress in the state and the country. He emphasized the importance of collective effort and prayer in achieving the state’s goals.


He expressed optimism that with the prayers and support of the people, his administration will transform the state's fortunes and restore it to being one of the most economically prosperous in the country.
