The All Progressive Party (APC) candidate, Smart Adeyemi was declared winner by Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the rerun of the Kogi West Senatorial district election that held on Saturday, November 30, 2019.
According to the returning Officer of the election, Professor Olajide Lawal announced this at the collation center in Kogi State. Professor Lawal Adeyemi polled a total of 88,373 votes while Senator Dino Melaye of the People Democratic Party (PDP) scored 62,133 votes.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) scored 659 votes, John Olabode of African Democratic Congress (ADC) came forth with a total of 262 votes while Adeyemi Taiwo of the Nigeria Elements Progressive Party (NEPP) scored 119 votes.
Smart Adeyemi has unseated Dino Melaye of Kogi West Senatorial district.
