RELEASE FATHER'S CORPSE FOR BURIAL — COURT ORDERS HELEN UKPABIO

The High Court ruling today being November 21, 2019 with suit number KKN/13/2019 ordered Evangelist Helen Ukpabio to release her father's corpse Late Chief Eseessien Ukpabio for burial within 21 days.

It was signed by Mrs A A Otoh, the Assistant Director in the court in a case between Grace Eseessien, Alice Vincent Unwana, Henry Eseessien, Roseline David Ikpe, Comfort Eseessien as plaintiff whilst Helen Ukpabio is the defendant.

This crises between Helen Ukpabio and her family started since 2011 before the death their of their father, February 22, 2018.

Her siblings approached the court to compel and release their father's corpse to the only surviving son for burial because she refused to release the corpse for proper burial.

The sociocultural group and Ukari/Ibibio tradition had written to Evangelist to release her father's corpse for burial because it's against the tradition for a female to bury her father when the only surviving son is still alive.
