I FEAR GOING INTO THE BUSH TO REAR COWS — FULANI IN ENUGU LAMENTS

The Chairman of Enugu State of Miyetti Allah popularly known as Fulani herdsmen, Saleh Aron has lamented the kind of fear that has engulfed him each time he entered the bush to rear cows because of being kidnapped the same way his brother was kidnapped last year being 2018.

He added that Fulanis are always accused each time crime is being committed whereas they too are also victims.

“People link any crime committed in the state to a Fulani whereas we suffer same problem. I recall when my younger brother was kidnapped in 2018. I paid ransom before he was released. His abductors asked me to take the ransom to Oji-River area. The kidnappers were eventually arrested months after and they comprised Fulani, Igbo and Hausa.

“The kidnappers are a team and when something happens, people will name the perpetrators as herdsmen. I fear to go into the bush to rear cows now because of fear of kidnappers. I am afraid and everybody is experiencing insecurity. That is why we are telling the government that those committing crimes are not resident in Enugu State. These criminals are a combined team. It is not only herdsmen and in most cases, the criminals connive with the locals.”
