COURT ORDERS PATIENCE JONATHAN TO FORFEIT $8.4 MILLION, N9.2 BILLION TO FG

The Federal High Court in Lagos was on Monday, July 1, 2019 ordered the Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan to forfeit $8.4 million and N9.2 billion to the Federal Government.

Justice Mojisola Olatoregun granted an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that the money should be permanently forfeited.

She said that Mrs Jonathan could not prove how the money was legitimately earned.

Justice Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), Mrs Jonathan's lawyer, was of the opinion that the money was the cash gifts the former first lady received from well wishers while her husband, Goodluck Jonathan, was in office.
