FANI-KAYODE REACTS OVER THE WAYS INTERNATIONAL BODY SEES NIGERIA IN TERMS OF DISASTER

Femi Fani-Kayode was  bittered the way international  body sees Nigeria each time there was disaster in this country.

He was of the opinion that anytime there is booming, killing from Fulani herdsmen or Boko Haram Terrorists, there will be silence both in Nigeria and informational media but if the same thing happened in another country, it becomes a news internationally that will demand urgent attention.

What is the cause? Are we not their fellow human being or does our blood good for shedding whereas citizens of other countries will be preserved.

One of the greatest ironies and contradictions about the Nigerian condition is the fact that hundreds are killed by terrorists every day in the north but it is only when a British lady is amongst the victims that it becomes news.

In the same vein, just a few years ago the most heinous and barbaric terrorist act took place in Lagos, Nigeria when a Church by the name of SCOAN was blown up by terrorists and over 200 people, including foreign nationals, were murdered.

Despite the forensic reports and clear visual evidence of a drone attack the Nigerian authorities opted to bury the truth and instead claimed that the building "collapsed" as a result of a faulty foundation.

We simply did not have the courage to tell the world the truth about what was going on in our country and we were prepared to bury the whole thing under the carpet.

Contrast that with what has happened in Sri Lanka where Christians were targetted and Churches were bombed a couple of days ago and over 300 people were killed.

The whole world, rightly, mourns for Sri Lanka and those Churches but when a Nigerian Church was bombed there was a deafening and cowardly silence from both the Nigerian and international media. How can we go on like this?

A nation that cannot own up to its own demons and confront them can never excel or prosper. A country that does not value the life if its own citizens and that is prepared to cover up the tracks of savage and barbaric terrorists has no future.

"If you do not value your own how can the rest of the world value you?"
