The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has replied the  Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha,  on the shown by the governor concerning his Certificate of Return withheld by the electoral body.

Rochas Okorocha shown confidence that his Certificate of Return will still be given to him by the INEC in a ceremonial way.

Governor made this statement at the conference on Thursday that “INEC is planning something special, to present my certificate”.

Governor Okorocha was of the opinion that, INEC wants to organise a special programme for me to hand over the certificate to me but clearly, I’ve won and it was a peaceful election".

INEC’s National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye on Channels Tv Sunrise Daily on Monday reacted on Governor Okorocha's statement by  insisted that the commission has not declared its order and would not present the certificate to the Imo State Governor that anyone thinking otherwise should be living in fool paradise.

He added that no candidate including Governor Okorocha will be given certificate of return after influencing REC in his states “under duress”.

He was asked whether the commission has reversed its decision on Okorocha’s certificate of return, Okoye said: “Yes, We’ve made it clear on why we didn’t present any certificate of return to Governor Okorocha.

“If you look at our website, we said that the declaration and return were made under duress and that we are not going to give any certificate to any person or any individual that procured a return under duress.”
