Imo PDP in Owerri magistrate Court, as Hon Barr Uche Onyeagocha the incoming Secretary to Imo State Government regains his freedom.
Uche Onyeagocha was arrested yesterday by the Nigerian Police for tearing Imo Governorship election results sheets from Ideato South LGA, home town of Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha. Okorocha was alleged to have fraudulently padded his LGA results sheets to an alarming figure of 70,000 more than PVC collected.
Though Onyeagocha went against the law to have tored the INEC material/results sheets, his action which provoked the Action Alliance and Okorocha's agents to tear results sheets of other LGAs collected was clear obstruction of democratic process and punishable under the law of the land. Onyeagocha, Paschal Onwukaike and Steve Asimobi were arrested and arraigned today in court.
Political observers are of the fine opinion that if not the action of Barr Uche Onyeagocha, INEC couldn't have reviewed the results from Ideato South LGA and after reconciliation brought it down to 40k, hence PDP supporters see Onyeagocha as hero of democracy in election their governorship candidate, Emeka Ihedioha won.
No wonder members of the party are in court in their numbers to show solidarity to Hon Barr Uche Onyeagocha and some are even demanding that he be made Secretary to the State Government.
